Common name: Dusty Miller, Beach Sage, Beach Wormwood, Old woman
A plant with a silvery foliage that complements other plants and flowers and can be used as a ground cover, or grown in pots. It can grow upto a foot tall. The silver leaves are what it is most beautiful. They supposedly do have small yellow flowers in the second year ( I have never seen them), but if allowed to grow,the plant does not look as beautiful and looks rather stringy,and therefore it is advised to remove them.
The picture above was taken at KBR park, Hyderabad. The one on the left is from the flowersofindia.net site. See the flowers - plant belongs to the sunflower family.Botanical name: Artemisia stelleriana I do not know if the above plant is this particular one. But this is the closest I can get!!

Really?? And these used to be sold as lavender plants in the horticulture show!!!

ReplyDeleteThe last time I went - peak summer - the park inside was dry and arid, but the gardens on the outer track - where you do not need to purchase a ticket - on both sides are just beautiful, green and well maintained. But the peacocks and other wildlife are inside - so it depends on what you want to see and how long a walk you have in mind. Enjoy!
