Magnolia sieboldii

Common Name - Oyama Magnolia

Native to Eastern Asia - Japan, Korea.  A small tree.  With white cup shaped flowers with purple red stamens.  Almost look like mini lotuses.  The flowers are fragrant, but I did not notice it in the rain!

  1. Beautiful flower. I remember seeing something like this, but pink in color.

  2. I read somewhere that it is available in pink too, but not sure if it is this variety of Magnolia

  4. I have a collection of magnolias, and M. sieboldii (and the very similar M. wilsonii--takes more shade) are my favorites. I have featured it in several GBBD posts. I haven't seen it in pink. M. stellata, which is a little similar, comes in pink.
